The Latin pop duo Amistades Peligrosas formed in 1989 when solo artist Cristina del Valle and Alberto Comesaña of the band Semen Up met and, well, fell in dangerous love. They moved to Madrid and signed to EMI in 1990. Their debut album "Relatos De Una Intriga" saw release in 1991. It spawned the hit single "Estoy Por Tí" and opened the way to a number of successful albums for the happy duo. "La Ultima Tentación" (1993), "La Profecia" (1996) and "Nueva Era" (1997) all became hits, but at the end the band - and the couple - disbanded.
