Elakelaiset

Music > World/Reggae > Elakelaiset
The Finnish humppa band Eläkeläiset (“The Pensioners”) was founded in the year 1994. Humppa music is a distinct style that is related both to jazz and fast foxtrot and is played in 2/4; the name itself comes from Germany, where ‘humpa’ is any folkloristic 2/4 sound meant to get eläkeläiset dancing. Accordingly, the band Eläkeläiset is also popular in Germany. They released their debut album, “Humppakäräjät”, in the year 1994 and kept a busy release schedule since then, issuing energetic albums such as “Humppa Till We Die” (2000).
