Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams is an American singer-songwriter and actress who's best known for being a member of Destiny's Child. She started out singing gospel in her local church choir and performed with gospel groups Harmony and Chosen Expression. In May 1999 she secured a back-up singer position for Monica and toured with her. Following that in January 2000 she joined and became a permanent member of Destiny's Child controversially replacing former members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson. Williams' arrival ushered in the band's most successful period scoring hits such as Independent Women, Survivor, Bootylicious and Lose My Breath.
In 2002 she was the first member of the band to release a solo album Heart to Yours, which was a contemporary gospel album that became the best-selling record of the genre that year. She had a second solo effort in 2004 with Do You Know and her current album Unexpected, which features contributions from Solange Knowles, was released in 2008, gaining her a hit with the lead single We Break The Dawn. Unexpected is a fantastic album that didn't receive the true support it deserved, leading some to speculate that Williams will always be No.3 in the former-Destiny's Child pecking order.
