Midnight Oil

For Australian band Midnight Oil the way to fame and glory was a hard and stony one. The politically dedicated band was formed in 1975 in Sidney and founded its own label in 1978, due to lack of interest from the record industry. The single "Armistice Day" went platinum in '81, but Midnight Oil had to wait another six years before hitting it big with the song "Beds Are Burning" and the accompanying album "Diesel & Dust". "Blue Sky Mining" brought more anthems before the band went downhill. In 2002 bold headed singer Peter Garrett left the band.
