Sam and Dave
Dave Prater and Sam Moore met in Miami, Florida, USA in 1961 and began recording as Sam & Dave. The duo's '66 soulful debut "You Don't Know Like I Know" was released a year after Atlantic Records persuaded their Memphis affiliate Stax Records to produce it. Sam & Dave's frequent fighting caused the duo to split 1970, after Stax's distribution deal with Atlantic ended taking away their writing partner Isaac Hayes, and house band Booker T. & the MG's. Sam & Dave reunited briefly in 1980, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in '92.
