Born in 1959 in Bellshill, Glasgow, Scotland singer Sheena Easton attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama when she got her break on the BBC television production “The Big Time: Pop Singer”. The exposure landed her a deal with EMI and pushed her singles “Modern Girl” and “9 to 5” into the UK Top Ten. Her self-titled debut appeared soon after and received enthusiastic responses both in the UK and in America, where she earned a Grammy as Best New Artist. With a string of hits coming throughout the late 80’s, Easton began acting on stage appearing in a Broadway revival of “Grease”.
