Like their trans-Atlantic twin, Suicide, British synth pop duo Soft Cell perfected the formula of one eccentric, androgynous singer and one flamboyant musician, who uses electronics to replace a band. Singer Mark Almond delivered a camp, if not entirely pitch perfect, yet expressive vocal, while instrumentalist/ programmer Dave Ball proved his masterful arranging skills on their three albums between 1981 and 1984.Their biggest hit remains "Tainted Love", a cover of a 60's hit for the Four Preps, written by Ed Cobb. Soft Cell re-united in 2002.
