So how was your weekend? RealMusic Blog played pool in a dodgy Russian wine bar, drank fizzy wine from Spain and danced to Los Del Rio’s “Macarena” - we’re so European sometimes… And now, to welcome in the start of another week we have some new videos just for you. Yay! Coming up there’s Boyzone hugging, Pink chainsawing, Sisters of Transistors ker-razy keyboarding, You Me At Six rawking and Keane hiding behind robots. Step this way…
Sisters of Transistors - “The Don” - Out Now
—————
RealMusic Blog watched this first with a headache. Our advice is: don’t watch it with a headache. Not only is the music thuddy thuddy, the images are also fast-moving and you really need 3D glasses to appreciate it fully. Think capes, nodding, pink, drumming, chanting and everything slightly out of place and like the devil might come and eat your soul. Keyboard overload then from the Sisters - it’s all very now and gothic and churchy. But strangely alluring and glowy, like radioactive wine. Yes, that’s exactly what it’s like. We particularly like their emotive cry of “People Come On!” over Hammer House Of Horror organ-grinding. Crazy-mad-great.

Boyzone - “Love You Anyway” - Out Now
————
After Take That’s triumph, RealMusic Blog is surprised it’s taken the others so long to catch on. Chop chop, 90s boy bands! New Kids’ comeback was abysmal, but what of the oirish fivesome? Well, whisper it, but Boyzone’s comeback single is actually quite good. Like Take That, the song and the new video acknowledges that the lads are no longer whipper-snappers, and so dresses them in natty suits and plays to their strengths. So we have Ronan taking singing duties, Shane in a car looking dashing, Steven on a step doing an Irish jig (OK, maybe next video) and Mikey wandering the streets thinking about issuing a parking ticket. Have we missed one out? Oh yes, Keith. Well, he stumbles out of a taxi when the big chorus kicks in to join the others in a bit of dancing and hugging. For that is how this video ends - with Boyzone going a bit Backstreet on our arse, dancing in formation, then hugging and slapping each other on the back. The song is also insanely catchy and rhymes ‘delirious’, ‘serious’ and ‘curious’ which makes it a winner in our books.

Pink - “So What” - Out Now
Have we mentioned before just how much we love Pink? Well, we do. This new video is aimed straight at the jugular of her now-not-husband Carey Hart, although we think Ms Pink has tongue firmly in cheek as he appears in the video and the two are apparently still bessie mates. And as she says, she’s still a rock star and she’s got some rock moves - and then some. Did you see her performance at the VMAs? RealMusic Blog bows down at the feet of such a rock god. The official video is nearly as peppy, with Pink wielding a chainsaw, getting naked and setting her hair on fire. She survives it all though, ‘cos she’s a rock star, with her rock moves and that. All together now: “Na na na na na na na na na na na na na naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
We can’t embed the video here because of stupidy rules, but you can watch it by clicking HERE…

You Me At Six - “Jealous Minds Think Alike” - Out Now
————–
Next up are Surrey-spawned rockers You Me At Six who’ve got a dark video where they all do their best to look like hard geezers but actually, we think their hair is a tad too conditioned and that they probably all still live at home with their mums and go to the shop to get her a pint of milk when she runs out. As well as being ultra-coiffured, the lads can also bang out a tune, this one being all gung-ho guitars, shouty shouty rock lyrics and sounding a bit like, well, McFly. We know they probably want to sound more like harder bands, but McFly know a good hair product when they see one, and really, they’re quite successful now aren’t they? Have a watch of the video and see what you think. One other thing - don’t they all open their mouths really wide when they sing? RealMusic Blog makes a mental note to try to swallow the mic at our next karaoke session…

Keane - “Spiralling” - Out Now
—————-
Finally this week, we have the terribly nice chaps from Sussex, back with a new album and a fresh sound. RealMusic Blog caught up with lead singer Tom this week for a chat - expect that interview later this week - and this is the first single which starts with a big ol’ “Oooooh!” from the lads and the tempo never drops from there on in. There’s precious little of the band in the video, with them settling for robots, static and shooty laser beams instead, with the odd shot of Tom on a grainy TV. It’s all terribly modern-retro-80s, which makes RealMusic Blog feeling blinkin’ ancient because we remember the 80s the first time around and wish we’d kept our batwing jumpers to save us having to buy more. Retro or not though, this is fantastic, as is the new album which we heard last week. Woooooh! as Keane might say.
