Medieval
Medieval folk is inspired by the songs of Renaissance and Middle Ages-era bards and minstrels. Many Medieval folk artists either write their own material to approximate the song style of the genre, or simply cover traditional Medieval folk songs that are several centuries old. Songs of fair maidens and dragon-slaying knights are not uncommon in this genre, but the majority of lyrical content is saturated in folklore and usually accompanied by lutes, flutes, lyres, pipes, hurdy-gurdies, dulcimers, and other traditional European instruments of the Middle Ages.
