The term "Worldbeat" is applied to a global cornucopia of music styles suitable for adaptation to dance halls anywhere. The prerequisites are a strong, danceable rhythm and audible high spirits. The bulk of Worldbeat music comes from sub-Saharan and northern Africa and the Caribbean, although sources as distant as Finland figured into the mix. As with any dance music, Worldbeat songs are meant to flow from one into another in the hands of a capable DJ.
