The time: 2.15pm. The scene: Having a brew and a Rich Tea. The Phone: Ring Ring! The question: “Alright petal, fancy coming to the National Television Awards - Front row?” The reply: “Would I!!!” And so it was 30 minutes later, not wanting to be outlashed, I made an emergency stop at Boots to get some fake eyelashes before running home. Turning up at the Royal Albert Hall I was dressed to the nines and ready to do my best Richard Nixon ‘V’ Salute down the red carpet, only to be shafted to ‘door number three round the side love’.
