So, folks, apart from the synopsis there is not much on offer in terms of an opinion… “Why”, we hear you ask? Well, we have not been able to preview the full film prior to release. We did, however, get to watch a couple of clips. Now, there are usually three reasons for this: 1) The film is still in production. 2) They want to keep the story a secret from the press so they don’t leak it to the public. 3) It is so terrible that they want to keep it secret to avoid bad reviews prior to release…

———-

After watching the clips, hosted by an extremely eager producer, this critic was left slightly confused. That might sound a tad harsh, but not being a comic-book fan, we must be fair: If you are a fan of Frank Miller, the director of 300 and Sin City, or a comic-book fan, then you no doubt know all about this and are very much looking forward to it. Visually, it does look spectacular and if you are also partial to a pretty lady, then, you will be happy as there is a whole heap of eye candy, including Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson, to keep you going through the dark streets of Central City.

——

So, is it worth a watch? Well, if these graphic-novel style films are your bag, then yes, absolutely. If not, we fear that you may be left a little disappointed as it is not your typical action-adventure. However, having the legendary Samuel L. Jackson kicking ass is always a bonus, even if he is wearing eye shadow!

——

We, lucky Real ladies, did get to interview Frank Miller who spilt the beans on the next Sin City 2 - oh, yes! And we also had some quality time with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, both very lovely people.

——

In the meantime, enjoy and keep it Real!

Synopsis

——–

Adapted from Will Eisner’s legendary comic strip, The Spirit, an action-adventure-romance, is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus has a different mission: he’s going to devastate the Spirit’s beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City’s rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront … all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader.
